Campaign to revitalize the playgrounds in our WV State Parks

Our state parks are the heart of West Virginia, offering a breathtaking landscape where generations have made cherished memories. From the roaring cascades at Blackwater Falls to the rugged trails of Cabwaylingo State Forest, these wild and wonderful spaces are where our children discover the joy of the outdoors. But for many, the adventure is falling short of a quality playground.

The truth is, the playground equipment at many of our beloved state parks is aging, outdated, and fails to meet the needs of all children. In some areas, the outdated structures are in danger of becoming unsafe.  Playgrounds at Watoga were recently removed for that reason. At other areas, a lack of accessibility means the thrill of a slide or the joy of a swing is just out of reach. The last major system wide playground improvement program was completed in 2010.

We need your help to change this.

By contributing to our “Playground of Possibilities” fund, you will directly support the revitalization of these vital spaces. Your donation will help our foundations install modern, safe, and fully accessible playground equipment. This isn’t just about replacing old metal with new plastic; it’s about investing in the health and happiness of our state’s children and continuing the legacy of our parks for future generations.

Just imagine:

  • A family picnic at Babcock State Park with the sound of children’s laughter from a state-of-the-art playground.
  • A child in a wheelchair accessing a platform swing and experiencing the rush of soaring through the air.
  • More families staying in West Virginia because they know our parks offer a welcoming, modern, and safe environment for their kids.

Join us in rebuilding our wild and wonderful playgrounds. Your contribution will provide a safe, accessible place for every West Virginia child to grow, discover, and play.  Any donation you make is tax-deductible and will be used to bring this vision to life. We also welcome corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations of materials or services.

To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit our secure online portal at PayPal  or return a check in the enclosed envelope to West Virginia State Parks Foundation, PO Box 2, Hurricane WV 25526.

Thank you for helping us love WV State Parks!
